New Financial published a new edition of its International Financial Centres Index in July 2026, examining financial activity across 65 economies. The report offers a useful perspective for the debate on the development of Poland as an international financial centre.
The index distinguishes between activity serving the domestic economy and international financial activity. Its rankings are based on the value of market activity rather than survey assessments, and it does not combine the two categories into one overall score.
This distinction matters when comparing economies with different structures. A large home market and a strong international role are separate characteristics. Understanding both helps explain the functions that a financial centre performs.
Reading different measures together
For FFP, the report adds to the evidence used to discuss Poland’s financial-centre ambitions. Market-activity measures can sit alongside assessments of the business environment and the competitiveness of individual cities, provided their different scopes are kept clear.
Together, market-activity data and wider competitiveness indicators provide a fuller picture of the opportunities and challenges facing a financial centre.
The publisher’s summary explains the methodology and key international findings. Details on access to the full report are available from New Financial.
