As part of the Open Finance Specialization, run jointly with Visa, we conducted a nationwide survey to better understand the market’s perception of Open Finance. The study, completed in early 2025, covered over 1,300 respondents, including consumers, SMEs, and financial sector professionals.

The key takeaway? People are curious but cautious. While there is strong interest in easier access to tailored financial services, trust in how data is shared remains a critical factor. Respondents value transparent data use and the ability to manage consent flexibly.

One in three consumers sees better personalization of offers as the top benefit of Open Finance, while SMEs are equally drawn to improved credit access and visibility of financial data. However, data privacy, fraud risk, and lack of financial knowledge still block adoption.

In terms of the perception of Open Finance from the financial sector representatives, 40% of industry representatives view regulations positively, however they recognize that there is still limited knowledge about it. They see main opportunities of Open Finance as boosting product innovation, creating new business models and improving offer alignment with customer needs.

Based on the research, we selected two PoC use cases with the highest potential:

  • Retirement Planner – a tool integrating pension data and projections to help users prepare for the future.
  • Streamlined Credit Process – enabling simplified assessments using aggregated data, without BIK checks.

Both solutions received strong support from market participants. We’re now launching the implementation phase with selected partners to build and validate these concepts in real market conditions.
